Botox and DYSPORT
BOTULINUM TOXIN TYPE A (BRAND NAMES: BOTOX®/Xeomin®/DYSPORT®)
Botox®, Xeomin®, and DYSPORT® are highly purified proteins that share a similar chemical makeup AND are derived from the same category of naturally occurring muscle-relaxing compounds known as Neuromodulators. Injectable Neuromodulators have proven to be highly effective skin-smoothing and wrinkle-reducing agents and provide patients with a non-invasive, temporary facial rejuvenation alternative to facial surgery. Although it was first used in a medical capacity to treat muscle spasms around the eyes, the aesthetic benefits of Botox® became apparent very quickly, and similar products (Xeomin®, DYSPORT®) were developed in response to the rapidly increasing demand for this type of non-surgical wrinkle-reducing treatment.
At the Beverly Hills Aesthetic Surgical Institute, with convenient office locations in Beverly Hills, Santa Clarita, and Valencia, California, Triple Board-Certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon Dr. D. David Saadat and his team of licensed Medical Aestheticians/Aesthetic RNs have performed countless successful Botox® treatments, helping their patients to restore a youthfully smooth, wrinkle-free complexion in less than 20 minutes! Proper technique is imperative for to achieve optimal Botox® treatment outcomes, because the injections must be administered with accurate depth, positioning, and treatment patterns to safely smooth out wrinkles without resulting in a “too tight,” “frozen/shiny forehead,” or “bat face” look.
Botox® made by Allergan, Inc. is FDA approved and is a very safe product with a 20-year track record; however, some disreputable establishments inject non-pure or “bootleg” Botox® to reduce costs and maximize profit, which can lead to devastating health consequences and distorted facial features. Again, this reinforces the critical importance of having your neuromodulator injections performed by an experienced and reputable practitioner such as Dr. Saadat.
BENEFITS OF BOTOX®
By blocking the nerve impulses surrounding the injection sites, Neuromodulators (Botox®, Xeomin®, and DYSPORT®) weaken and relax the adjacent muscles, preventing them from contracting. Moreover, by inhibiting patients from making the facial expressions responsible for the creation of dynamic wrinkles these muscle-relaxing compounds also stave off the formation of new wrinkles.
Neuromodulators serve as powerful countermeasures to the effects of environmental stressors, sun damage, the natural aging process, and repetitive facial expressions, all of which can lead to the development of crow’s feet, worry lines, forehead lines, a perpetual pinch along the eyebrows, and facial asymmetry.
The rejuvenating effects of Botox®/DYSPORT®/Xeomin® include improvement in the appearance of:
- Gummy smiles
- Nasal flare
- Drooping eyebrows
- “Bunny lines” on the sides of the nose
- Glabellar lines (eyebrow furrows)
- Sagging/fine lines at the corners of the mouth
- Vertical or horizontal neck bands
- “11” lines between the eyebrows
- Crow’s feet (fine lines around the eyes)
YOUR BOTOX® EXPERIENCE
When receiving botulinum toxin injections at any of Dr. Saadat’s three private practice facilities, you can feel confident that:
- You will receive the best possible care and your injections will be performed by trained, licensed professionals under the supervision of an esteemed plastic surgeon
- You will safely achieve balanced, revitalizing results
- Your schedule will not be disrupted by extensive downtime requirements
Because Botulinum toxin treatments can be performed in 15-30 minutes, this allows for very convenient scheduling options—many of Dr. Saadat’s patients are able to pop into the office for a quick Botox® service (a.k.a. “lunchtime facelift”) and return to work immediately thereafter.
After listening carefully to your facial enhancement goals and concerns, Dr. Saadat will evaluate your facial anatomy before providing his expert recommendations as to the specific type of neuromodulator (Botox®, DYSPORT®, or Xeomin®) best suited for your aesthetic needs, as well as the ideal number of units and the appropriate injection site locations to ensure exceptionally beautiful results. Dr. Saadat may recommend ancillary facial rejuvenation procedures (i.e. dermal fillers, chemical peels, mini eyelid lift) to maximize and amplify your Botox® results.
Most patients observe the visible, skin-smoothing effects of their Botulinum toxin treatment approximately one week after the initial injections. Although the aesthetic improvements of neuromodulator treatments are temporary, on average, patients sustain their wrinkle-reducing results for 4-6 months (the exact time frame varies depends upon how the patient’s body metabolizes the protein), and results can be extended with periodic follow-up maintenance treatments.
