David Saadat, M.D., founder and owner of Beverly Hills Aesthetic Surgical Institute Inc. and Roxbury Surgical Center LLC, encourages readers to help raise men’s awareness about some of the preventable health conditions that cause them to die much younger than women.

LOS ANGELES, CA June 27, 2019: Owner and Founder of Beverly Hills Aesthetic Surgical Institute Inc., and Roxbury Surgical Center LLC, David Saadat, M.D., posted a new article on his website entitled, It’s Time To Save The Men,in which Dr. Saadat calls attention to the need for greater healthcare awareness among men.

Dr. Saadat writes, “Over the years we’ve seen bumper stickers asking us to save the whales, the elephants and any number of other wildlife species.” He adds, “I’m all for it.” He continues adding, “However, we haven’t yet seen a bumper sticker asking us to “save the men.” But, believe me, there are many among us who do need saving.”

With June being Men’s Health Awareness Month, Dr. Saadat offers some compelling statistics. He writes, “Historically women live longer than men. In fact, 57% of all those ages 65 and older are female. By age 85, 67% are women. The average lifespan is about 5 years longer for women than men in the U.S., and about 7 years longer worldwide.”

Dr. Saadat goes on to elaborate sharing information published by Robert H. Smerling, MD, Facuty Editor at Harvard Health Publishing who says, “there are many obvious factors contributing to the disparate ratio of men to women over time, which is roughly equal in young adulthood.”  Dr. Saadat says that, “Among the most powerful factors, Dr. Shmerling, says that men “tend to take bigger risks.” As a result this is why more boys and men die in accidents or in acts of violence than girls and women. More men drive drunk, ride motorcycles and are involved in homicides.”

In addition, Dr. Saadat states that men “have more dangerous jobs. Men far outnumber women in some of the riskiest occupations, including military combat, firefighting, and working at construction sites.” And later on he states, “men tend to avoid doctors. Getting men to report symptoms and go for regular follow-up treatments for chronic medical problems could counter some of the tendencies that cause men to die earlier.”

Dr. Saadat goes on to explain that, “Wearing blue throughout the month of June signifies your support of Men’s Health Awareness month. As pink has become synonymous with Breast Cancer Awareness, blue ribbons and wearing blue has become a national initiative to help bring much needed awareness to men’s lack of awareness about their health.” He adds, “Encourage the men in your life to schedule a medical check-up this month. Encourage the men you care about to educate themselves about testicular cancer and skin cancer. Encourage them to become interested in diet and exercise as daily events that contribute to greater quality of life.”
